CD Projekt Red’s CEO Adam Kicinski said in an investor meeting that they intend to produce a GOTY edition for Cyberpunk 2077. He predicted that it would be available in 2023. The Cyberpunk 2077 Game of the Year edition will be released following the release of Phantom Liberty, the game’s first paid expansion and another significant upgrade.
Cyberpunk 2077 Game of the Year (GOTY) Edition
According to the report (thanks to Insider Gaming), CD Projekt Red’s CEO stated the following regarding the planned 2019 rerelease of Cyberpunk 2077. After releasing the game’s upcoming DLC, Phantom Liberty, he declared that the studio plans to release a Game of the Year edition.
“It’s the natural order of things,” he said in an investor meeting. “It was the same with The Witcher, which, after both expansions, was finally released as a Game of the Year Edition and has been on the market ever since. The same can be expected in this case.”
On the other hand, Phantom Liberty was said to be the only DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 in a previous report. “We can confirm that the expansion in the works right now is the only planned expansion developed for Cyberpunk 2077,” CD Projekt said. After Cyberpunk 2077 is released, CD Projekt Red will reportedly start developing the sequel in 2023 under the codename ‘Project Orion.’
Kicinski said CDPR plans to start building on the success of Cyberpunk 2077, which led to the company’s most profitable third quarter ever. Due to its launch on next-gen systems, the business first labeled the game as a colossal flop. However, the developers noticed a significant increase in the game’s sales following new updates and the release of the popular anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
Despite having ambitious plans for 2023, CD Projekt has not yet finished 2022. The Witcher 3’s next-gen update will release on December 14.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
