F-Zero and Star Fox Artist Making New Game for Nintendo Switch
It has been confirmed that Takaya Imamura’s new manga, Omega 6, will be receiving a video adaption thanks to Japanese game developer Happymeal, most famous for their Mystery Guide series of games.
Omega 6: The Video Game will be a 16-bit retro-style science-fiction text adventure game.
Imamura started his manga shortly after his departure from Nintendo in October 2021, and is most famous for being the main art director, character designer, and story writer for both the F-ZERO and Star Fox series. He released Omega 6 back in October 2022, the official synopsis for which reads as follows (translated from French, which is currently the only available version):
After months of cryonic suspension in their spaceship, Thunder and Kyla are finally awake. They are bounty hunters, and the target they were chasing after has finally been located on an average planet. But just when they thought they’d make short work of him, their opponent Petrogaze turns out to be much tougher than expected…
However, the video game will not follow the story of the manga directly and will instead focus on the story of some brand-new characters, and will feature unique battle mechanics to go alongside its text-based gameplay.
The game’s overall art direction, including graphics and character design, will be handled by Imamura. More information on the release date for Omega 6: The Video Game is expected to arrive next year.
