Far Cry 6’s workbench is arguably the most important component in the new game. The workbench is the go-to for building new weapons, modifying old ones, and creating different types of ammo for use across all of your weapons. Workbenches are scattered across Yara and learning how to master them is key to doing well in Far Cry 6.
How to Use the Workbench in Far Cry 6
When you come across a workbench you have to hold square (on Playstation) or X (on Xbox) to enter the workbench screen. Once you’re on the screen you can see the different types of weapons that can be customized or created. These weapons are primary weapon 1, primary weapon 2, primary weapon 3, supremo, sidearm and ride weapons. Select the type of weapon that you want to upgrade by moving the cursor over it and pressing select. On the workbench gun screen, you will be able to tab through the different weapons within that class. Select the weapon that you want to modify.

For the purpose of this guide, we’re going to use rifles. When you select a rifle there will be an “Ammo socket”, “Muzzle socket”, and “Optical socket”. The ammo socket will allow you to equip different types of ammo. Different enemies in the game will require different ammo to effectively kill them. From the ammo socket screen, you can either change your ammo or create a new one if you have the parts. The muzzle socket allows you to select or create a variety of suppressors for your rifle. You can also elect to not have a suppressor equipped at all. Finally, the optical socket allows you to create or select different types of scopes such as red dot sights and ACOG sights.
To effectively make use of the workbench you will need to collect parts as you play your way through the game. To see what parts are required for an item that you want to create, simply hover over it and see how much of each material is required.
Far Cry 6 is available now on Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 5, Playstation 4, and PC.
