After three years, our adventure in the New World will come to an end. The world-ending “black dragon” Fatalis will be the last Title Update to come to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne on October 1st. You can take on this fan-favorite legendary monster in the ruins of Castle Schrade after finishing the story of Iceborne and completing the Alatreon investigation. Although Iceborne won’t be getting more new or returning monsters, Producer Ryozo Fujimoto promises that they will keep updating the game with more Event Quests. Well, I guess that means we can say goodbye to a Nargacuga variant, then.
The Final Stand developer diary stream detailed a few other contents coming alongside Fatalis. First, the title flagship Velkhana will be the second monster to get an Arch-Tempered variant after Namielle. And then from October 16th to November 5th, a new Seliana Fun Fright festival will decorate Seliana Gathering Hub. As usual, your hunter and Handler will get appropriate outfits to celebrate the event. Additionally, Master Rank Layered Armor collection is coming this “fall”, however not all of them will be available at the same time.
And lastly, Capcom is adding a new Event Quest called ‘The Place Where Winter Sleeps’ where we will fight Tempered Kushala Daora, Teostra, or Lunastra in Seliana Supply Cache. For PC player, the Street Fighter V Collaboration Arena Quests to unlock Sakura and Ryu costume will also be added to the game. Previously they were PS4-exclusive events. Come on Capcom, it took two years for the Street Fighter costumes to finally come to PC?
Fatalis Armor Set Preview and Skill Additions
With a new monster, comes new armor and weapons as well. In the two pictures above you can see the designs of both Alpha and Beta Fatalis armor. Executive Director Kaname Fujioka and Iceborne Director Daisuke Ichihara teased that the Fatalis armor set might be able to break skill caps. Does it mean Fatalis armor can activate other armor set’s bonus Secret skill level — or even open more bonus levels for skills that don’t have Secrets? We just have to wait until the black dragon shows up in October.
Furthermore, the Title Update is also adding a skill that will please most people who complain about how Clutch Claw and tenderizing mechanics work:
- A new skill, Clutch Claw Boost: all weapons can tenderize in one hit and drop slinger ammo.
- Tenderizing effects inflicted on monsters take longer to disappear.
- Three new Decorations:
- Diversion Jewel 3: Level 3 Deco slot. Gives Provoker skill, give you aggro similar to using Showman Earrings.
- Acrobat Jewel 3: Level 3 Deco slot. Gives Safe Landing, faster recovery from heavy hits similar to using Acrobat Earrings.
- Shaver Jewel: Level 3 Deco slot. Gives Clutch Claw Boost.
It’s quite saddening that Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is ending with this Title Update. But all good things must come to an end, right? And that means the new Monster Hunter 6 (or Monster Hunter Galaxy or whatever they’re calling it later) will be in production soon. Are you and your friends ready to take on this last hunt? Discuss and tell us what you think of this update in the comments.
