Considered one of the greatest JRPGs of all time, Final Fantasy VII will hit the U.S. App Store at 11:00 p.m. ET on today, developer Square Enix announced with a YouTube video (below). The release, an iPhone and iPad-ready version of the hit PC game, will feature touch controls and an option for turning off random encounters, according to Kotaku.

This is a port of the PC version, and it should be sufficient distraction for FFVII fans until the remake is released. Square Enix recommends an iPhone 5s or later, 3rd generation iPad or later, or an iPad mini 2 or later. It warns you’ll probably experience slow running speeds if you try to play on any other device.
Also launching alongside the iOS version of Final Fantasy VII is the Final Fantasy Portal app, which is a hub for all things Final Fantasy that even includes a mobile version of the iconic FFVIII card game Triple Triad.
The original Final Fantasy VII, which debuted more than 18 years ago in Japan, was a tremendous hit, selling more than 9 million copies and spawning a series of spinoff titles, including a straight-to-DVD feature film sequel called Advent Children and a PlayStation Portable prequel game called Crisis Core.
