Final Fantasy VII Remake has been delayed yet again. The development team made a statement earlier today stating that the original release date of March 3rd, 2020, has been pushed back to April 10, 2020, on PlayStation 4.
The long-awaited remake has been pushed back to “apply final polish to the game”. Final Fantasy VII’s producer Yoshinori Kitase’s full statement can be found here:
We know that so many of you are looking forward to the release of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE and have been waiting patiently to experience what we have been working on. In order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans who have been waiting for deserve, we have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020.
We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience. I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer.
Thank you for your patience and continued support
Originally released in 1997, fans of the franchise have been hungry for a remake. To this day, the original Final Fantasy VII is the best-selling game in the franchise. The remake was officially announced during E3 2015, but fans will have to wait a little longer.
In other sad Square Enix news, Crystal Dynamics recently announced that the Marvel’s Avengers has also been delayed from its original release date in May to September 4th, 2020.
