Nintendo and Illumination have shared the third and final trailer for the Super Mario Bros Movie, due to release in theaters on April 5, 2023, in a Nintendo Direct-themed presentation. It features the cast, comments from the directors, and confirmation that the film is complete and is currently being localized.
Super Mario Bros Movie Direct: Final Trailer and Details
The final trailer for the Super Mario Bros Movie is here at least, and its the biggest one yet, presented during a Nintendo Direct-style stream. The trailer prominently features Rainbow Road and various other characters from the movie, including Seth Rogen’s Donkey Kong.
The trailer also confirms that a Luma will make an appearance in the Super Mario Mario Bros Movie. Previously, toy leaks had seemed to confirm that Lumas could potentially make an appearance in the movie in some form, implying the involvement of Rosalina.
That possibility is now stronger, as a Luma was indeed shown in the trailer, though what role they play at this time is unknown. Any confirmation of the appearance of Rosalina is also null.
Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic briefly appeared during the direct as well to discuss the film, mainly the inclusion of Rainbow Road and how they worked with the team recapture its magnitude on screen.
The directors have recently discussed the movie in an interview, going in-depth about the characters, world, and how they hoped to make a movie that is both faithful to the game and able to stand on its own.
With the release of the trailer, post-production on the Super Mario Bros Movie is done and the movie is now confirmed to be complete. It is currently being localized and is still set for release in theaters on April 5, 2023, a date which was recently moved up from the previous date of April 8, 2023.
