At the end of January, before Fire Emblem Heroes’ anniversary, players are given the opportunity to participate in a special event called Choose Your Legends. This annual voting campaign lets fans select which character they want to receive an outfit based on the title they appear in. The top two males and females are selected as the winners and become playable/summonable in August. Fire Emblem Heroes features day one characters that are beloved and still haven’t won Choose Your Legends like Azura and Chrom.
In the first year in the women’s division, Lucina and Lyn won second and first place, respectively. The men’s division has Roy and Ike taking the top two spots. While this is an exciting event for fans to get their favorites some love, not everyone will be happy with the results. Last year, Gatekeeper, a popular nonplayable character from Three Houses, took first place. This led to Marth placing second, and Chrom pummeled down to third place.
Chrom likely to win Fire Emblem Heroes’ CYL6
Speaking of Chrom, this year will undoubtedly be his in the men’s division. Due to a massive upset with Chrom taking third place in CYL 5, players have been rallying hard for Chrom to take first or second place this year. As of the interim results, he is currently in first place with Seliph from the Japanese exclusive Genealogy of the Holy War coming in second. In the female division, Tiki, who also appears in Awakening in her adult form, is currently in first place, with female Byleth from Three Houses following in second. The final results will be revealed when the fifth anniversary arrives, accompanied by a FEH Channel video from Nintendo’s official YouTube.
The support for this character from the 13th installment, Fire Emblem Awakening, has been very vocal and confident. On Twitter, where fans are very outspoken, there is one who is putting their votes in Fire Emblem Heroes for Chrom in honor of their late mother. This, along with many other supportive fans in the community, resulted in the birth of #ChromForFEMama.

Fire Emblem Heroes loses a dear fan
Twitter user @Pitobsessive, known as Lucy, sadly lost her mother last year on September 18. She suffered from many ailments throughout her life but still had a smile on her face and spent time with her loved ones. To dedicate her memory, Lucy plays on her mother’s FEH account to collect and build up Chrom, including his alternative forms. His current alts include spring, winter, Exalt, and legendary forms. Chrom recently received a Múspell Resplendent form, which is a Fire Emblem Heroes Pass exclusive that gives characters new artwork and a boost to their stats.

Ms. Jill, who later gained the nickname FEMama, dreamed of Chrom winning Choose Your Legends and receiving a new alt dedicated around the event. The name was given to her when Lucy’s Facebook group noticed and admired Ms. Jill’s love and dedication to the mobile game after sharing her posts as she did not have social media. Lucy asked the group to add her mom as friends in the game.
FEMama became Lucy’s good luck charm
When asked how FEMama got into the game and Chrom, Lucy said, “It was absolutely completely random. Well, the year the game came out, I was desperately trying to get Takumi; we were on holiday at the time, my luck was running dry, and I was summoning randomly in hope to get him, my Mum was sat there, so I asked her to summon for me, and thus the obsession began.” In her YouTube video, Lucy revealed that the first five-star FEMama got when she summoned on her account was Rebecca, who has since been demoted to the three and four-star pool.
Lucy also added that when her mother summoned on her account, Chrom eventually came home more times than when Lucy attempted to summon in general. FEMama teased Lucy about this as she stated, “Oh he likes me as I see him all the time!” This time between mother and daughter brought smiles to their faces.
FEMama knew about Lucy’s love for Chrom and watched support conversations featuring him from Awakening and Fire Emblem Warriors. In late 2018, FEMama created her own account, where she eventually spent her free time to summon for Chrom and other characters she has grown to adore.

Just in time for Chrom’s birthday on May 27, 2019, FEMama made a crowning achievement of fully merging Chrom at +10. Her Twitter account also features posts of her free summons and lucky pulls, including Micaiah, Halloween Mia, and of course, Chrom’s alts. In the Hoshidan Festival banner, she managed to get all the focus units, while Lucy struggled to get Micaiah’s alt.
When the time came for a Path of Radiance banner featuring Jill, a long-awaited and popular character, FEMama and Lucy took the time to summon for her, and they both ended up getting her in their accounts. Lucy’s post showing FEMama receiving Jill went viral on the Facebook group, with many comments and reactions being overall sweet and upbeat. The group eventually became like family to them as time went on.

Lucy said in her video that one of her brothers was on holiday in Spain. During the second week of the trip, her mother got Covid. As she and her other brother were looking after her in night and day shifts, respectively, FEMama was unfortunately not getting any better. On September 16, Lucy and her brother took their mother to the hospital after stating she couldn’t breathe.
FEMama had to be in an induced coma for a chance to recover. Lucy and her brother went home at three in the morning while the hospital checked on her. Then they received a call from the hospital with news that FEMama’s kidneys were failing. Once they made it to the hospital, the terrible news came. Lucy and her brother grabbed each other’s hands and stayed with her until she passed away on September 18th. At this time, the two met up with their brother, who got back from Spain. Lucy eventually broke the news to her group.
Two days after her mother’s death, Lucy posted a tweet of her dog, grandmother, and FEMama in memoriam. Her funeral was on September 30, and Chrom was summoned twice on FEMama’s account when Lucy logged in.

To pull at our heartstrings, Lucy also commissioned artist @omoccin of this beautiful artwork featuring her mother holding a chibi form of Resplendent Chrom. This is the last form of him that FEMama got to see when she was alive.
The amount of love and support for Lucy and FEMama has been very endearing. For Lucy and FEMama, Brave Chrom winning will result from strong dedication and passion. With the overwhelming response from the Fire Emblem Heroes community on Twitter, Chrom getting his brave form is likely possible. Thank you, Lucy, for showing us an extraordinary lady that shines a bright light in the FE community. We hope Jill/FEMama is resting in peace and cheer Chrom on for CYL6.
