Back in 2015, we heard that Super Nintendo World would be opened up in Universal Studios Japan, construction actually began in 2017. And since then we have had a couple of teasers in the way of concept images and CGI trailers.
But today we finally have a couple of photos that show the under-construction area. They do not reveal much but do give a bit of a sense of how Super Nintendo World will feel and look when it eventually opens up to the public.
These images are actually from a fan page for Universal Studios Japan.

A leaked map that is rumored to show one of the rides, Yoshi’s Adventure, shows that the ride will go through the huge hillside tower. It apparently loops around the park with inside and outside scenes with over 40 animatronics. We also know that there will be a Mario Kart ride in Bowser’s Castle.
Super Nintendo World is set to open in 2020 to coincide with the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. Universal states that they will be expanding the area over the years too. Nintendo and Universal have plans to roll out collaborations across the rest of their parks too, including Orlando, Hollywood, and Singapore but we are yet to hear a timeframe.
Some more concept art was leaked earlier this week, but this time for Epic Universe, a Universal theme park in Florida. Seemingly featuring a Donkey Kong ride; the images come from a portfolio found by theme park lover Alicia Stella.
Universal Studios have enjoyed an expanding IP pool for their theme parks, with Harry Potter proving to be an invaluable asset. Hopefully, Super Nintendo World will push Universal into making more ties with the gaming industry. Although Nintendo really offers the perfect bridge for all ages in a theme park; so they are the ideal choice.
