The news broke late last year that Brandy Norwood would be reprising her role of Cinderella for the upcoming Disney+ Descendants movie. At the time, the film was to be called The Pocketwatch. However, now that the movie is closer to coming out, it has been revealed to be called Descendants: The Rise of Red.
Today, Disney+ unveiled a teaser showing Brandy reprising her role as Cinderella. In addition, it was revealed that Paolo Montalban will be playing King Charming for the new Disney+ movie. As many will recall, he played Prince Charming alongside Brandy as Cinderella in the 1997 version.
In the Disney+ teaser, Brandy and Paolo introduce themselves and the characters they’re playing. Both, of course, are dressed in their royal attire.
The new Disney Descendants film cast includes Rita Ora, Ruby Rose Turner Bridget, Morgan Dudley, and Joshua Colley. The film is directed by Jennifer Phang. Dan Frey and Russell Sommer wrote the screenplay.
Brandy As Cinderella
Of course, Brandy is first a singer and then an actress. However, Brandy’s role as Cinderella in 1997 is one of the most iconic moments from her legendary career. The 1997 version of Cinderella also starred Whitney Houston as the fairy Godmother. In addition, Jason Alexander, Whoopi Goldberg, and Bernadette Peters were also in the movie. Just last year, the cast sat down for a reunion special on ABC, which proved to be a ratings success.
Though Cinderella isn’t the main character in the new Disney+ Descendants movie, fans are excited to see Brandy in the role again. From the pictures, Cinderella has a new look that includes a blue braid. Though there is no known release date for the new movie, fans can expect to get more news soon.
