There is no such thing as a free lunch. Thankfully there is Free Comic Book Day! From some of the best that Marvel has to offer to comic spinoff’s of your favorite animated tv shows, here are five comic books we recommend you pick up today.
Avengers Captain America
With Avengers: Infinity War releasing just last week, what better time to pick up this Free Comic book day debut.
FCBD 2018 Avengers Captain America features a story written by Jason Aaron (Thor, Wolverine, Star Wars) and art by Sara Pichelli (Ultimate Spiderman, Guardians of the Galaxy).
Bob’s Burgers
Ever since debuting on Fox in 2011, Bob’s Burgers has gone from a support show, in front of The Simpsons and Family Guy, to the networks most beloved program on animation domination. Now, the Belchers are even getting their own comic book on Free Comic Book Day.
Included in the comic are new installments of Tina’s Erotic Friend Fiction, Louise’s Unsolved Mysteries and Curious Curiosities, Gene’s Rhymey Rhymes That Could Someday Be Songs, Linda’s Attempts to Take a Nice Family Picture in Front of the Restaurant (And How It Always Goes Wrong), and Bob’s Fantasy Food Trucks (If Money Were No Object).
The Legend of Korra
We can all agree that whether it’s Aang or Korra, their is no such thing as too much Avatar. And while the television run may have been canceled before it’s time, the series has lived on in comic form.
This Free Comic Book Day story features Korra and the rambunctious young airbender (and fart bender) Meelo. When Meelo shirks his duties at the refugee camp, Korra recruits him for a top-secret, super-important mission: tracking down a pack of lost pets.
Infinity Watch Amazing Spider-Man
Just like Avengers Captain America, what better time to pick up a free Amazing Spider-Man comic.
With a jam pack cover, featuring Boomerang, Rhino, Electrellina and Big Wheel, this 10 page story will give readers a quick story revolving around a day in the life of everyone’s favorite neighborhood Spider-Man.
The Avengers fun doesn’t stop there though, as the free comic includes a 10 page primer on the Infinity Countdown event currently unfolding in the Marvel Universe.
Dark Horse Overwatch
For a competitive multiplayer, Overwatch has a hell of a backstory and lore. Most of these stories are told in the form of comics. So it is no surprise that Dark Horse has created a story for the title to release on FCBD.
In this tale, the powerlifting tank Zarya is sent to eliminate an elusive hacker, and she is at her wit’s end. She reluctantly teams up – and butts heads – with an omnic hacker. As they hone in on their target, Zarya realizes that she will have to reassess her worldview about omnics.
