Fatshark’s latest entry to the horde co-op shooter genre, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, had a pretty rough launch, to say the least. Marred with performance issues and various error messages, players are having a hard time trying to enjoy the game. However, with the release of Warhammer 40K: Darktide on the Xbox and PC Game Pass, it seems a new 4001 error code has appeared, and the userbase is looking for a fix.
Is There a Way to Fix Error Code 4001 in Warhammer 40K: Darktide?
As mentioned above, the 4001 error code seems to happen when people try to play Warhammer 40K: Darktide through Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription service. They can get into the intro just fine, but everything went kaput afterward. Several Reddit users wrote that some Steam players are also experiencing the issue, but the cases seem pretty anecdotal.
There is a huge chance that something on Microsoft and Game Pass’ backend is the one causing this issue. Nevertheless, with that being said, the Warhammer 40K: Darktide community claims that there are two ways to bypass and temporarily fix the 4001 error code. It’s pretty simple and doesn’t hurt to try:
- Switch the leader/host: If the 4001 error code is accompanied by the “hot_join_party_hub_failed” message, then you should try changing your party’s leader.
- Wait it out/play at a different time: When talking about network issues in online-based games, there’s a huge chance that it happens simply because of server overload. Just wait or look for a time when there are fewer players online.
Thankfully, Fatshark has yet to acknowledge players’ reports on this as a known issue on its forum and channels. In case you wish to keep being updated on the game’s bugs or server issues statuses, then simply head over to Warhammer 40K: Darktide‘s official social media channels:

Or, you know, light some incense and pray to the Omnissiah to please the machine spirit. It might work.
