FNIX Rising adds further to the story and world of Generation Zero, which has you and your friends trying to find the missing populace of a post-apocalyptic Swedish town.
In the second expansion to Generation Zero, you may notice new structures have appeared along the southern coast of the city’s mainland, and they appear to have been built by the FNIX machines. As you re-explore the Archipelago and Farmlands regions of Östertörn, you’ll also find hope in the form of other survivors fighting the machines.
In addition to the altered landscapes, the FNIX Rising DLC adds 10 main missions to the story and 10 side missions. There are also new melee weapons to make use of, as well as new collectibles and outfits. A new enemy type, the Apocalypse Class Harvester, will make exploring Östertörn all the more dangerous.
FNIX Rising Available Now
A trailer for FNIX Rising was released last week. The DLC can be purchased on Steam for $7.99.
Even if you don’t purchase FNIX Rising, the base game is also receiving a few free goodies. These include some of the “world revamps” happening to the South Coast and Farmland regions, new apparel crafting levels, two melee weapons, and a bonus challenge tree.
Generation Zero is a first-person survival game set in an open-world 1980’s alternate history Swedish town. Players can explore the world alone, or with up to three friends online. It originally released in March 2019, and though we at The Nerd Stash thought the game was disappointing, it had some good ideas that the FNIX Rising may have built upon. The game was developed by an internal team at Avalanche Studios, which is now called Systemic Reaction. They unveiled the game with an announcement trailer in June 2018.
