Formula 1: Drive to Survive will return for a second series on Netflix next year. Series one was hugely popular when it released in March this year. It showcased the 2018 Formula 1 season, with behind the scenes access that we have never seen before.
Series 2 will launch prior to the 2020 Formula 1 season and follows the antics of the current Formula 1 season. Here is what Ian Holmes, Director of Media Rights at Formula 1 had to say in a statement:
We are thrilled to once again be working with Netflix on the second series of Drive to Survive,
It is a truly unique series which allows fans to see the unseen side of F1, showcasing the personalities and emotions each team and driver goes through, both on and off the grid.
Despite the first season being excellent, it only featured 8 out of the 10 Formula 1 teams as Mercedes and Ferrari decided not to participate. With season 2, all 10 teams are included, so we get to see the ingoings of the biggest Formula 1 organizations.
It seems as though Netflix were filming with Mercedes at last weekends German Grand Prix, an eventful race, that ended in disaster for the silver arrows. Star driver Lewis Hamilton was also not on top form, he finished outside the top ten, and was ill all weekend.
