It’s pretty hard to believe everything that has crossed over into Fornite, from back in the day with John Wick to now we have the likes of Spider-Man, Naruto, and even The Rock. The latest additions to the Battle Royale island hail from the Gears of War franchise in both Kait Diaz and Marcus Fenix. Alongside these skins, Fortnite released several new challenges, with one of them tasking players with damaging someone with a melee attack, which is very much in line with its source material. This guide will explain how to damage someone with a melee attack in Fortnite.
How to Damage Someone With a Melee Attack in Fortnite
Before going after the melee attack challenge, players will need to complete two other challenges in the Delta-One Questline. These challenges are to find three COG Tags and to crouch behind a barrier. With those complete, you can now go and hunt down an enemy with your melee weapon of choice. The challenge doesn’t have much of a strategy as it is just what it says on the tin: just find an opponent on the Battle Royale island and hit them with a melee weapon. While it might not be as exciting or satisfying as using a Lancer chainsaw, it is that simple.
There isn’t much strategy here as it can be done at any point in the game if you’re brave enough to just charge full speed at an enemy and beat them with your weapon, but the best way to do it is to try and get it done at a point where the other player likely only has a melee attack themselves. When jumping from the Battle Bus, follow a player all the way down to the ground and start swinging. As long as they don’t immediately grab a weapon and absolutely destroy you, you should be able to get this challenge done with no problem. If the challenge doesn’t immediately pop, just keep hitting them until it does.
Once you’ve damaged someone with a melee attack, the challenge will be completed. Doing melee damage will reward the player with 20,000 XP and will allow them to progress to the next challenge: Do shotgun damage to an enemy. The Gears of War challenges will be available in the game until December 17 at 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET, so make sure you get them done before they are gone!
