This is not the first time that there has been a live countdown in Fortnite. Season 7 of Fortnite Chapter 2 also saw a similar countdown appear on the Battle Royale Island. Back then, it was leading up to the live event that capped off the seventh season and led into Season 8 known as Operation Sky Fire. This new countdown is leading up to a similar event, with the upcoming event marking the end of both season 8 as well as the entirety of Chapter 2 of Fortnite. Epic Games has already announced that they will be ending the game’s eighth season and second chapter with a big event that they are calling “The End.” This is the in-game event that the live countdown is leading to in Fortnite. The moment this countdown hits zero means that Fortnite as it is known now will change.
The countdown is currently scheduled to end on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 1 PM ET. This is when players can expect to see the game-changing event begin. Players will be able to join the event with up to 16 friends. with The End playlist being available 30 minutes before the event begins.
