Fortnite has just released Chapter 3, Season 2 on March 20, 2022. While the new season adds new features and upgrades, players are decrying/rejoicing one major change: the building system has been removed from Fortnite. On one hand, it’s obvious that the building mechanic does a good job distinguishing the game from its battle royale peers. On the other hand, parts of the fanbase have been asking Epic Games to remove it for years since it overcomplicates combat situations. Well, whichever side you take, one thing is clear — it is gone. Now comes the question: when or will building makes a return to Fortnite in the future?
So…Will Building Return to Fortnite?
It seems the answer is yes. A well-known leaker, iFireMonkey shared a datamined audio from the game, revealing that the building mechanic being removed and replaced with Overshield is going to be a part of Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2 “No Permit” Questline.
According to the data mined information, iFireMonkey then said that Fortnite is disabling building in both Arena and normal modes for the first nine days of Chapter 3, Season 2. With that in mind, we can expect the building system to return to Fortnite on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
Based on this set of audios it appears that the first 9 days of Chapter 3 – Season 2 will have building disabled, which explains why the no build LTM supports bot lobbies. https://t.co/XwdAyHbOOE

Here are the key quotes from the datamined audios:
We’ll get building back. The Origin has a plan, and he asked me, to improve upon it. So, ’till then, keep on sprintin’!
Seven has a lead on building blackout. Wanna help me chase it down? Haha, of course you do!
We think we’ve located some secret Imagined Order anti-build plans. Secure them. We’ll do the rest.
The Imagined Order’s been deploying cloaked building jammers across the island. Annoying, but, we can program your device to detect them with the right data chips.
Destroy– umm, repurpose, some seven computer equipment, we’ll harvest the chips from there. That should work for our purposes. Building will be back in no time.
According to a quick Google search, people seem to like and prefer this change. But what do you think, are you Team Building or Team No-Building? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
