Ben Hawkey is a 21-year-old English actor best known for his role as “Hotpie” in HBO’s Game of Thrones. Though he has a limited role, showing back up again this season in a scene with Arya, he is making the best of his time with the show. So much so it has even inspired him to open a bakery under the name You Know Nothing, John Dough.
The name is a pun, referring to a line that one of the main characters, Jon Snow, would be told over and over again by his love interest, Ygritte, who would always tell him “You Know Nothing, Jon Snow.” While the bakery is adding in an extra H, staying true to real world spelling and grammar, everything else about the eater it’s entirely Game of Thrones oriented.
Hotpie is well known in the show for his love of baking, as he even stays behind in a bakery to avoid the troubles of the road. One of the more memorable scenes featuring Hawkey’s character revolved around when he made a direwolf-molded bread in the third season. Now, you can get one of your very own, as the treat will be one of the main items for sale at You Know Nothing, John Dough.
According to a press release from a U.K based delivery service called Deliveroo, these wolf shaped loaves are comprised of whole wheat cornbread with orange zest, best served slightly warm with soft butter.
“Hot Pie’s direwolf loaves are a favorite for Game of Thrones fans and people are always asking me for the secret of my recipe,” Hawkey in a statement. “I can’t share that, but Deliveroo customers had the chance to try them themselves. They didn’t even need to take a dangerous walk down the King’s Road to visit.”
At this moment, the delivery service is, unsurprisingly, unreachable due to the high volume of demand for the treats. Be sure to check back to the Deliveroo page frequently though if you are in the U.K to try these pups out for yourself!
