Amazon is launching a new mobile social media platform enabling mobile gamers to record, edit and share their gameplay moments called GameOn. As reported in this Game Rant article, Amazon’s new social platform is mobile gaming dedicated and you can really think about it as Twitch for mobile gaming. You can download it now on iPhones and Androids alike now.
It’s social media abundance! Seeing as how the number of social media networks is increasing, maybe it shouldn’t come as a surprise that your Twitches and your TikToks will eventually inspire a social media app specializing in sharing and connecting gamers on mobile devices. GameOn works independently from all of these platforms of course, and simply offers similar functionality within the mobile gaming ecosystem. The app is supposed to “support over 1000 most popular games” according to the aforementioned Game Rant article.
GameOn: Social Platform For Mobile Gaming?
Much like with the PlayStation Share button, gamers can either record as they play, or decide to capture the last few moments of gameplay if they weren’t recording, to begin with. You could, in theory, choose to turn on your microphone to provide some commentary, either during or post-gameplay. The app is also supposed to motivate interaction by setting goals gamers can reach and share with others.
We know that Amazon is trying their best to enter the gaming industry, although it doesn’t seem able to catch up with the big leagues. Regardless, it might be interesting to check out this platform in a couple of years, seeing as how novel platforms need time to gain a lively following, coinciding with the decrease of interest in contemporary ones.
