Gamestop has had a troubled history with both its busy practices and its employees, as the common theme seems to be that it’s miserable to work there. But if the GameStop Manager’s Expo is any indication of the future, the company seems like it is trying to reward its employees for all their hard work. Â
At the conference, which is only for Gamestop managers, the company revealed that every manager in attendance would receive a Nintendo Switch Console for free. In a Facebook group, Dumpster Fire Ultra, one of the store leaders, Craig Blalock, noted why they would be receiving the console and why it was such a big deal.
”This was major for us though because Nintendo NEVER gives stuff to GameStop employees. We have constantly gotten shafted on exclusives, console bundles, etc. But they announced at our Expo that we are the #1 retail seller of Switches and have sold more hardware and software for Nintendo since launch than Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart combined. So I think that’s what led them to this decision.”
The user went on to discuss that in the past, despite putting on strenuous presentations to show off a Nintendo product like Super Mario Maker, their reward was a download code for a sub par product, Star Fox Zero.
While this is big news, considering how hard Switch consoles are to get, it isn’t the first time the company has run such a promotion. Back in 2013, at the same conference, Gamestop announced General Managers and Managers would receive PS4 and Xbox One units upon their release.
Unfortunately, the promotion was only for managers who attended the GameStop Manager’s Expo in Las Vegas. For more information, be sure to check back to the site for updates, as well as all of your other Nerdy News and Needs!
