The critically acclaimed comic book writer Garth Ennis has unveiled his newest twisted tale with Marjorie Finnegan.
Marjorie Finnegan follows a time-traveling troublemaker who’s failing to acknowledge the chaos she’s leaving behind. By jumping through loops in time, she’ll encounter some bizarre characters, dinosaurs from the past, and a cop with a malfunctioning pleasure device. But as she embarks on this temporal odyssey, time will begin to get fuzzy as our heroine’s roguery is tested.
Familiar Faces Join Garth Ennis to Bring Marjorie Finnegan to the Page
The new series comes from indie publisher Artists, Writers & Artisans (AWA). While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, AWA chief creative officer Axel Alonso commented on Garth Ennis’ writing impact when it comes to comic book composition:
Every few years, Garth creates a game-changing story that locates the pulse of popular culture and slices it open: Preacher, his reinvention of The Punisher, The Boys. Marjorie Finnegan is his next masterpiece, a hard-charging, sci-fi romp, featuring a lovably flawed protagonist…”
Marjorie Finnegan‘s creation comes from the teamwork of Ennis and artist Goran Sudzuka, who previously worked together on A Walk Through Hell. Sudzuka felt confident in bringing in colorist Miroslav Mrva to help bring the project altogether. The two had worked on “numerous books before”, according to Sudzuka, and that this new series would creatively challenge both of them to step outside of the box, more or less. Mrva said the following in regards to rising up to the challenge:
A funny and very dynamic story like this one has a whole variety of moods that I’m trying to capture in color. And that gives me the opportunity to try out different approaches and have fun too. I hope readers will get the same thrill while reading as I have when coloring it.”
Marjorie Finnegan will make her first appearance this May 5 in both digital and print. The sci-fi adventure series will be told through eight issues, and we’re definitely excited to see what Garth Ennis has cooked up this time. Are you planning on grabbing your first issue this May?
