If a recent report by Polygon is to be believed, than Gears of War fans around the world can rejoice. Sort of.
According to the report, Gears fans will not be getting the ‘Marcus Fenix Collection‘ they have been calling for. They will however be getting ‘Gears of War HD’, a remastered version of the original game with overhauled visuals and cutscenes for the Xbox One. The game itself is reportedly being remastered by Splash Damage (the studio that brought us Brink) while the cutscenes are being worked on by the animation studio Plastic Wax.
Gears of War will turn 10 years old next November, and if this rumor turns out to be true it represents an opportunity to introduce a whole new generation of fans to the franchise.  With E3 just around the corner we will hopefully get confirmation or a debunking soon.
What do you think? Is a remastered Gears game a welcome addition to the Xbox Ones catalog? Let us know in the comments below.
