The actress played the bubbly Bobbie Spencer on the series from 1977, starring in up to 880 episodes and reprising the role in several spin-offs until her death. She also made a name for herself in series like One Life to Live and The Bay. Following her demise, several co-stars took to social media to pay their last respects while extending condolence to the legendary actress’ family.
General Hospital’s Cast and Crew Confirmed Jacklyn Zeman Dead
The iconic actress passed away on Wednesday, May 10. The show’s executive producer Frank Valentini announced her death on social media on Wednesday night, giving accolades to the legend, whose professional contribution brought light to many. He tweeted:
“On behalf of our @GeneralHospital family, I’m heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved @JackieZeman. Just like her character, the legendary Bobbie Spencer, she was a bright light and true professional that brought so much positive energy with her to work.”
Frank proceeded to extend heartfelt sympathy to Jackie’s family, including her two daughters, Cassidy and Lacey. He also noted that while they would miss Jacklyn Zeman, her positive spirit would live on with the cast and crew of General Hospital.
The official Twitter handle of the show also paid tribute to Jacklyn after her death. In the post, they noted that the world would always remember her kind heart and radiant spirit. In a statement to People, the late actress’ costar Rick Springfield who played Dr. Noah Drake, attributed the launch of his career in the eighties to Jacklyn’s efforts. He went on to describe Jacklyn as a “truly kind soul” who only ever said sweet things about everyone. He concluded with a sweet ode to the lost gem, saying,
“Love to your spirit as it transcends sweet girl. You left your mark on many of us and you will not be forgotten.”
Jacklyn Zeman’s stint on General Hospital made her a household name for decades, culminating in four Daytime Emmy nods. She earned her fifth Daytime Emmy nomination for her role on The Bay. Playing Bobbie Spencer on the soap opera ultimately became Jacklyn Zeman’s most memorable character, which set her up for a life of stardom until her death.
