In order to build even more hype for theĀ Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice film, General Mills has announced two new cerealĀ options, themed for the two different DC crime-fighters.
This is certainly not a new idea for movie marketing – General Mills also had a Star Wars themed cereal released beforeĀ Star Wars: A New Hope. Their latest cereal creations, focused on the Dark Knight and the man from Krypton, should be out at stores by the end of the week.
Each cereal is shaped like the distinct symbol of its character, and while Batman’s is chocolate-strawberry flavored, Superman gets a caramel crunch. Alan Cunningham, the senior marketing manager at General Mills, said in a statement, “Superman and Batman continue to appeal to the generations of fans that have enjoyed them for decades, as well as new superhero fans experiencing them for the first time.”
Cunningham said that General Mills put a lot of time and effort into deciding what the cereal should look and taste like, even with details many consumers don’t consciously think about, like the packaging. “…it doesn’t get more exciting for us than having the opportunity to feature these iconic characters on their two new cereals,” Cunningham said.
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be released in theaters on March 25.
