Ganyu’s banner is now active in Genshin Impact, with her being the latest character joining the game. The emissary and secretary for the Liyue Qixing is a 5-star unit and is certainly one of the top-tier characters in the game. Boasting some of the highest damage potential in the game, Ganyu is a versatile character that is pretty good to invest in. There are several ways players can approach building Ganyu, and here is a brief guide that will help you in your preparation.
Ganyu’s Abilities
Ganyu is a Cryo character and a bow user. Like every other character in Genshin Impact, she has a normal attack and a charged attack. However, she brings a new mechanism to the game where her charged attacks have two separate levels. You can choose to fire a normal charged attack or fire a level 2 charged attack by holding your attack even longer.

Normal Attack:Â Ganyu fires up to 6 arrows with her bow.
Charged Attack (LVL 1):Â Ganyu fires an icy arrow that deals Cyro damage upon hitting the target.
Charged Attack (LVL 2):Â Ganyu fires a Frostflake arrow that explodes on hitting the target and deals AoE Cyro damage.
Plunging Attack:Â Ganyu fires a bunch of arrows while in mid-air before striking on the ground, dealing AoE damage upon contact.
Elemental Skill (Trial of Qilin):Â Ganyu instantly dashes backward, dealing AoE damage to nearby enemies, and leaves an Ice Lotus in her place. The Ice Lotus taunts nearby enemies forcing them to attack it. The endurance of the Ice Lotus depends upon Ganyu’s maximum HP. When its duration ends, or it’s destroyed, the Lotus blooms rapidly, dealing AoE Cyro damage to nearby enemies.
Elemental Burst ( Celestial Shower):Â Ganyu summons a Cyro pearl that continuously showers shards of ice on the target area. These ice shards deal AoE damage upon hitting an enemy or the surface.
Constellations
Contrary to many characters that need to be duped to be effective, Ganyu works perfectly at C0(no dupes). This makes her very free-to-play friendly and an ideal primary character. However, duping and unlocking Ganyu’s Constellation does make her more viable.
Dew Drinker:Â Ganyu’s Charged Attack(LVL 2) reduce the Cyro resistance of enemies by 15% for 6 seconds. It also regenerates 2 energy upon hitting an enemy.
The Auspicious:Â Elemental Skill gains one extra charge.
Cloud Strider:Â Increases the level of her Elemental Burst by 3 levels (goes up to level 15).
Westward Sojourn:Â Enemies standing within the frost area of Elemental Skill take increased damage. The damage starts at 5% and ramps up every 3 seconds for an additional 5% (goes up to 25%). The damage lingers on enemies even when they leave the affected area(till 3s).
The Merciful:Â Increases the level of her Elemental Skill by 3 levels (goes up to level 15).
The Clement:Â Using Elemental skill removes the additional charge time required for shooting Charge Attack (LVL 2).
Best Ganyu Setup
As mentioned before, Ganyu is a very flexible character and can be built both as a primary DPS or a Support-DPS. The Blizzard Strayer set is the best artifact setup for Ganyu when built as a primary damage dealer. This significantly increases her Cyro damage, and it synergizes very well with her kit. The 2-Piece Set grants 15% bonus Cryo damage and the 4-Piece Set gives a 20-40% increase in Crit rate. If you are looking to build Ganyu more as a supporting character, use the Noblesse Oblige set, as it provides 20% bonus damage to Ganyu and increases the Elemental Burst of every party member by 12% for 12 seconds.
For free-to-play players, Prototype Crescent is the obvious choice of weapon. It gives Ganyu 10% movement speed and increases her attack speed by 36%, which can go up to 72% for 10 seconds. Players that have Amo’s Bow in their arsenal can definitely run it with Ganyu. It increases Normal Attack and Charged Attack damage by 12%. Furthermore, normal attack and charged attack damage increases by 8-16% every 0.1 seconds up to 5 times.
