Genshin Impact is one of the most player-friendly free-to-play console and mobile games in terms of rewards to effort that’s on the market right now. However, it is, in base, still a gacha game, and there still needs to be a clear line of progression. Enter the Adventure Rank: it is the Genshin Impact version of a user rank and it’s how you basically progress through the story and a large portion of the content available in the game. While it’s pretty easy to raise that rank early on in the game by following story progression, it becomes a little harder as time goes on, as nearly any leveling system does. We have just the solution though to help you make the most out of your time in Genshin Impact.
How to Level Up Your Adventure Rank
Something I should go over before listing off some of the ways you can increase your Adventure Rank is that every time you complete a task or quest you use Original Resin. This is Genshin Impact’s version of an energy mechanic, limiting the number of tasks and quests you can do in a limited amount of time. How much Original Resin you use depends entirely on what task or quest you’re participating in but know that you have a limit. It refills completely from zero in 16 hours of real-time so you should be able to go through as much as you can twice a day unless you’re buying Primogems – an in-game currency – to refill your Original Resin. Without any further delay, here are some of the best methods to level up your Adventure Rank!
Searching for Waypoints
One of the focuses for Genshin Impact is exploration, and it directly rewards exploration in a variety of ways, including when you find waypoints. Just unlocking a waypoint gets you some nice experience, so there can be a lot to be said for just wandering around and seeing what you can find.
Abyssal Domains
Abyssal Domains are very similar to Temples in the fact that they are your basic run of the mill dungeons but also include a very specific challenge or theme and can be handicapped for players. While the Adventure experience gained for each Domain seems to be capped, the alternative rewards that are also gained are often quite worth it. As such, it may be worth your while to seek them out.
Temples
Temples, as I said before, are like Domains, but exist without any sort of running theme or challenge. They are usually more straightforward than Domains are and often offer more Adventure experience for the trouble, even though they are also capped.
Finding and Opening Chests
Yet another one of those things that reward players for wandering around a bit but this one is multi-faceted because it’s not always as straightforward as walking around, finding chests lying around, prying them open, and getting your rewards. Sometimes, there’s some platforming involved; sometimes, you have to clear out a camp of enemies: it’s not always the same, so it’s always best to equip yourself well and try to prepare for anything if you’re going out hunting for chests.
Main / Archon Quests
Following the main storyline seems to be the best yield but also follows a very linear progression path and are some of the more gated things you can find behind Adventure Rank. It’s basically understood that if you have a Story or Archon Quest available and you are not limited by your Rank, you should go complete it and if there’s a string of them available, it should definitely be your priority, without question.
Side / World Quests
These should be your next priority once all available Story and Archon Quests are finished up. These are usually found either by exploring around or by finding the odd NPC with a random task for you in a main city or hub. Some are a little more involved than others but usually, they’re fairly straightforward.
Boss Hunts
One of my favorite ways to top off a session of grabbing as much Adventure experience as possible is hunting the game world for boss monsters. If you pull up the Adventurer Handbook and go to the Bosses tab, you can see a list of them and it will help you find them, as well. These usually give you the same amount of Adventure experience as Domains do and they throw two or three waves of enemies after you and usually include some kind of unique monster.

While these aren’t all the ways you can get Adventure Rank experience, I feel that these are probably some of the most efficient and fun ways to get that rank up in short order. Thankfully, though, these things don’t really change much as content is added so building your strategies shouldn’t change all that much.
