Genshin Impact Guide – Where to Farm Basalt Pillars

For Genshin Impact players looking to complete the ascension of Noelle or Ningguang, you will need to farm Basalt Pillars. This is by no means an easy task. Basalt Pillars can only be acquired from one enemy in one location on the map. In this guide, I’ll take you through all the steps so that you farm Basalt Pillars as quickly as possible.

Where to Farm Basalt Pillars in Genshin Impact

Basalt Pillars are a unique resource dropped by the Geo Hypostasis, a high-level Elite Boss. These enemies can only be found in the Guyun Stone Forest in Liyue. You’re going to need to make your way to the stone arena in this remote area of the map.  Once this boss is defeated, the Basalt Pillars will be available to loot. However, for those looking for an easy enemy, you’ll need to look elsewhere. This elite boss is a difficult enemy not only because of its attacks but because of its invulnerability. You will only have limited opportunities to deal some real damage before the Geo Hypostasis becomes invulnerable again.

The key to defeating this enemy is to use two-handed weapons to quickly break apart the pillars that the Geo Hypostasis summons. Breaking the rock pillars are crucial to get the opportunity to attack. Stagger the Geo Hypostasis by breaking the pillars and strike while it is vulnerable. As the Geo Hypostasis will teleport to any of the pillars around the arena, there are enough opportunities for this technique.

Once it gets to a low enough health, it will try to heal itself. You are going to need to break up the healing pillars that it summons to stop it. Otherwise, it will get a good chunk of its health back. When you destroy all three pillars, the boss will be defeated.

You need only interact with the Trounce Blossom to collect your reward. Expect to spend 40 Original Resin to collect the rewards though. The Basalt Pillar will be one such reward. For those looking to fully ascend Noelle and Ningguang, you’ll need to keep defeating these bosses. Just wait for the Geo Hypostasis to respawn, and keep fighting.
