Hunting for ascension materials to rank your characters is a key part of Genshin Impact. Outside of the material grind, you may find enjoyment in peacefully cooking food or travelling around Teyvat. One food you may cook throughout your journey is hash browns. You can cook two different hash brown dishes that require pinecones, an easy-to-find resource scattered around Mondstadt. However, you may want to make numerous hash browns and want to find the best way to farm for pinecones. By the end of this guide, you will learn how and where to farm pinecones in Genshin Impact.
How to Farm Pinecones in Genshin Impact
You will mainly find pinecones in Mondstadt. The image above of the Genshin Impact Interactive World Map shows some pinecone spawning locations in central Mondstadt. You can collect numerous pinecones in a short amount of time by travelling northeast towards Whispering Wood, Starfell Lake and Stormbearer Mountains. Alternatively, you can travel northwest through Wolvendom towards Brightcrown Mountains or south through Springvale, Dawn Winery, and Dragonspine. Any of these methods will lead you to pinecones that you can obtain.
Once you reach any of these areas of interest, you must search around and under pine trees for sparkles on the ground. Interacting with these sparkles will give you one pinecone. You can take numerous paths around Mondstadt to get upwards of 70-80 pinecones in less than 15 minutes if you’re quick. Additionally, if you are in the Inazuma region and do not need many pinecones, there are very small clusters on Seirai Island near Koseki Village.
You can use pinecones for cooking Mondstadt Hash Browns, Puppy-Paw Hash Browns and Sautéed Matsutake. For each of these recipes, you need two pinecones and additional ingredients. For example, both hash brown recipes require one potato and jam each, while the Sautéed Matsutake requires three Matsutake mushrooms, three bags of flour and two butter.
