George RR Martin, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire novel series, discussed his experience of working on the Elden Ring with Miyazaki.
George R.R. Martin is famously known for his novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire recently discussed his experience of working with Hidetaka Miyazaki in his blog, Not A Blog. George RR Martin and Miyazaki collaborated for the first time on the newest IP of FromSoftwere, the Elden Ring.
“A few years back, Hidetaka Miyazaki and his incredible team of game designers, the creators of the Dark Souls videogame series, reached out from Japan to ask me to help them create the backstory and history for a new game they were working on,” Martin wrote in his blog post.
He mentioned video games are not his thing, but he played some classics like “Railroad Tycoon, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and Master of Orion.”
It seems Martin was fascinated by how FromSoftwere approached the game and how they worked on the art.
“Miyazaki and his team from FromSoftware were doing groundbreaking stuff with gorgeous art, and what they wanted from me was just a bit of worldbuilding: a deep, dark, resonant world to serve as a foundation for the game they planned to create. And as it happens, I love creating worlds and writing imaginary history,” the author of A Game of Thrones said.
Elden Ring is set in a world called Lands Between, which was created by Miyazaki and Martin. Author, George RR Martin only helped the team in creating the lore of the game. Due to a network test, some plot spoilers for Elden Ring were leaked.
Elden Ring is the newest IP of FromSoftwere that will be released on February 25, 2022, for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
