After a very successful release earlier this July, Ghost of Tsushima has quickly become one of the best PS4 titles in recent memory. Becoming the PS4’s most popular new IP makes it safe to say that Sucker Punch Productions effectively released their greatest title yet. Now, after a month since launch, the development team is still hard at work to bring more samurai content to fans. Announced in a recent video, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be the newly added cooperative game mode placing 4 distinct warriors against a new spiritual threat.
With the trailer shrouded in such a deep mystery, there is still much to be understood about the upcoming addition, such as how the added gameplay will deepen the combat. With 4 players, the fights are sure to be massive and brutal with many online shenanigans for epic team combos. Each of the four unique classes borrows designs from the main title’s armor sets to create fresh looks and new experiences. With each character honing their special abilities and attributes, it sets Legends mode to tell epic tales of heroes’ past.
Taking on a select number of story and survival type missions, players will be able to interact and conquer familiar locations and missions under the guise of new looming Oni enemy types. With a limit of two players stealthily samurai slashing their way to victory in the campaign, the wave-based survival missions will allow a full party of 4 players to defeat the Oni threat of old mythological history. Detailed in a Playstation blog post, however; are plans of another update set to include raid missions for even larger-than-life challenges.
The newly added mode does not have a specific release date as of the announcement, but Sucker Punch Productions slates the release for later this fall. Despite requiring a PS Plus subscription to use online multiplayer features, the update will be given to all players free of charge.
