2020 was a great year for games, yet one of the most surprising games to release for me was Ghostrunner. This first-person hack and slash adventure prioritized a fantastic soundtrack, clean cyberpunk visuals, and a whole lot of killing. It was my honor to review it for this very site, where my only issues came in its length and minor control issues. It was incredibly enjoyable, and one I remember fondly. Well, it looks like today some of us will be returning to that very game, as Ghostrunner has officially released its Project Hel DLC on all platforms! Check out the brand new trailer below.
In Project Hel, you play the aforementioned Hel who you might remember as one of the major bosses you fought during the main game. Flipping the idea of the original on its head, Hel is working her way down Dharma Tower on her bloody quest, working to stop anyone who dares to get in her way. See, a new rebellion has formed, and queen Mara isn’t too happy about that. We know how queen Mara likes to solve problems, so it’s your goal to head down there and put a stop to this resistance, one blade slice at a time.
Now interestingly, while the YouTube description doesn’t say it, the Steam page goes on to further clarify that this DLC sees Hel put a stop to the Climber’s rebellion specifically. In case you aren’t aware or forgot, the Climbers were a group trying to bring our protagonist Jack back to life and helped the Architect do so, though unfortunately were killed en masse by an unknown entity. Though now, I suppose we know who said entity is.
Ghostrunner’s Project Hel DLC release can be found on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Amazon Luna platforms for $14.99 or your region’s equivalent. What do you think of this new DLC? Will you be purchasing? Let me know!
