Glass Onion, the sequel to 2019’s Knives Out and Rian Johnson’s latest smash hit, has made quite an impact at Netflix, with the film breaking onto the list of Netflix’s most popular English-speaking films not a month after its release on December 10th, averaging over 200 million hours of viewing in the last two weeks alone.
Officially titled Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Netflix’s Glass Onion centers around Miles Bron (Edward Norton), a tech mogul and CEO of tech company Alpha, who is hosting a murder mystery party at the Glass Onion, his private mansion in Greece. Among the party guests are Alpha scientist Lionel Toussant (Leslie Odom Jr.), Connecticut governor Claire Debella (Kathryn Hahn), fashion designer Birdie Jay (Kate Hudson), streamer-turned-activist Duke Cody (Dave Bautista), and detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), along with Birdie’s assistant Peg (Jessica Henwick), Duke’s girlfriend Whiskey (Madelyn Cline), and Miles’ friend Derol (Noah Segan).
Tensions rise at the party as Blanc quickly solves the fake mystery, only for people to start turning up dead for real, with motives and means spread out and entangled among the guests as a deadly mystery is afoot. Thankfully, Benoit Blanc is on the case, bringing his unique charm to the party – even though who invited him to the mansion remains a mystery.
‘Glass Onion’ Brings in Over 200M Hours of Views
Glass Onion first debuted on Netflix on Monday, December 23rd, 2022, and according to Deadline, it racked up 82.1 million viewing hours in the first weekend after its release. In the week following its release, the film gained 127.25 million viewing hours, making 200M total. Glass Onion has risen to be Netflix’s most-watched English-speaking film and its third most-watched film overall, behind Red Notice and Don’t Look Up.
