When traversing five of the Nine Realms in 2018’s God of War, there is a set of collectibles that can be found known as Treasure Maps, which are precisely what their name would imply: A piece of paper that will lead you to a Dig Spot that will provide those who sought them out a reward, including the “Treasure Hunter” Trophy. This guide will give a breakdown of where to find all Treasure Map and Dig Spot locations in God of War (2018).
Where to Find All Treasure Maps and Dig Spots in God of War (2018)
There are a total of 12 Treasure Maps in God of War, each with a corresponding Dig Spot, bringing the total number of locations that you will need to visit to a sizable 24. All of these maps and spots are found in Midgard, so you won’t need to worry about using the Bifrost to travel to other realms to get this done, though some areas aren’t accessible until the water lowers to a certain level during the course of the main story. Below is a full breakdown of finding all the Treasure Maps and their Dig Spots.
Island of Light Treasure Map
To find this Treasure Map, you will want to go to the northern part of the Lake of Nine and dock at the left shore of the Mason’s Channel. Directly to the left of the beach that you dock at, you will find the map sitting on the ground.
The Treasure Dig Spot is found to the east of the Mason’s Channel at the Light Elf Outpost. You will need to make a light bridge and then go to the right of the bridge. If you have been to the island before, the gate to the right should be open, and this is where you will find the treasure. If not, go to the left of the gate and drop down to the shore. Climb the wall and follow the path of light bridges until you get to the other side of the gate, where you will be able to get the Treasure.
Njord’s Oarsmen Treasure Map
To find this Treasure Map, you will need to do one of God of War’s many side quests. You will need to head down through the Northri Stronghold, an area that you will go through during the “Family Business” side quest for Sindri. Row down the long river until you can dock. Make your way through the area until you reach a ship. In the ship, you will find the corpse of what was once the crew and the map sitting next to him. Note that if you have already done the quest and have been through the entire area, you will be able to row directly to the ship.
Head to the Mason’s Channel’s left shore and climb the left wall to find the Dig Spot. Shimmy to an area where you will discover Sindri and climb the wall directly across from him. Go to the right of the wall, and you will arrive under the arm of one of the stone Oarsmen overlooking the Channel, which is where you will find the treasure.
Creation Island Treasure Map
This Treasure Map is pretty hard to miss if you visit Iron Cove in the southwest part of the Lake of Nine. It is found directly on the beach where you dock your boat when the water has receded to its lowest level.
The Dig Spot is found at Buri’s Storeroom to the East of the Lake. Head through the gate on the left, and you will find the Treasure on the ground in front of the giant, gold doors. If the gate isn’t open, get back in your boat and sail to the right, pass the water wheel and through some rocks, and you will find another docking location to get around it.
The Turtle’s Tribute Treasure Map
Before attempting to get this map, you will need to get the Shock Arrow from Sindri after completing Alfheim. Once you get it, head back to the Witch’s Cave and take the elevator to her house. From the elevator, go down the path to the right of the house and travel across the light bridge. You will find a climbable wall with red sap blocking the top of it. Use the Shock Arrow to destroy the sap, and you will find the Map in the room.
To find the Treasure, you will want to head back to the elevator and, instead of taking it down, destroy the Red Sap covered wall to the left when facing it. Once the wall is down, go straight and climb up the wall directly in front of you. This will bring you back in front of the giant turtle and is where you will find the treasure.
Don’t Blink Treasure Map
For this Treasure map, you need to head over to Fafnir’s Storeroom, which you will go to during Sindri’s side quest, “Fafnir’s Hoard.” Go past the forest area and in a room with multiple bridges coming from a center circular platform. You will find a dead body and the map next to it on this platform.
The treasure’s Dig Spot is found past the stone face that once spewed Black Mist at the mountain entrance. Right underneath the face on the staircase, just pass the climbable will you find the Dig Spot.

Dead and Bloated Treasure Map
This God of War Treasure map is found to the left of the Lake of the Nine’s bridge within an area called the Volunder Mines. You will travel far, and I mean FAR down into this mine to find this map. You will drop down into an area with a chain and a gate to the left, run through the gate until to come to a destroyed bridge. Drop down to the area to the left of the bridge, and you will find the treasure map on the ground to the left of a red chest.
Head to the Cliff of the Raven and progress through the coastline until you reach an open area with the corpse of a giant. Look at the corpse’s stomach, and you will find the treasure’s Dig Spot.
Hunter’s Kingdom Treasure Map
The Lookout Tower is found right of the bridge of Tyr’s Temple and to the left of the Muspelheim Realm Tower. Once you have docked here (or fast travel if you have already visited this location), you will need to look to the left, and you will find a climbable wall covered by spikes. Throw your axe at the device to the left of the wall to remove the spike and climb the wall. Once at the top of the wall, you will find a gap also being blocked by spikes. Turn around and throw your axe at the device again to clear the way. Follow the path provided and climb another wall. Once at the top, go to the left and drop down to find the Map.
The treasure’s dig spot is found in Veithurgard, which is accessed by opening the large golden doors at Stone Falls. Once here, the Dig Spot will be found in front of the zone’s temple doors.
The Last Place They’d Look Treasure Map
The Treasure Map is found in the Mountain and is very likely to be found while you are playing the game’s main quest. If you happen to miss it, you can go back to get it by going to where you meet Mimir, which can be accessed by the Mythic Gateway by traveling to the location named “The Summit.” From the Gateway, run-up to the big, circular platform and run to the right of the tree Mimir was once part of. Climb down the wall to a snowy cliffside and stick to the left until you find another cliff you can climb down. Get down to a flat area with no snow, and open the wooden doors to the right. Once inside go to the right and shimmy across a ledge to a landing and continue down the path until you find a wooden structure. Run pass it and go to the right. Drop down and continue down the linear path until you find the map.
You are going to find the Dig Spot at the Council of Valkyries. You can use the Mythic Gateway to get there or get there on foot. Return to the Mason’s Channel and and once again head to the left shore of the Mason’s Channel and climb the left wall to find the Dig Spot. Shimmy to an area where you will find Sindri and climb the wall directly across from him. This time, go to the left of the wall and go through the big wooden doors. The Treasure’s Dig Spot is found between two thrones.
Kneel Before Thor!
The Treasure Map is found in the Landsuther Mines, an area that you gain access to through the Brok’s side quest, “Deux Ex Malachite.” Once in the Mines, either progress through the quest until you drop a stone to create a hole in the floor or simply climb down into the hole you have previously made. Progress in this underground area until you reach another climbable wall, where instead of climbing, use the elevator to the left. This elevator will take you to the map.
Return to the Lookout Tower and follow the same path as the Hunter’s Kingdom Map but turn right when you reach the top of the wall and climb another wall. Once at the top, climb one more wall to the right and zipline to a new area near the Realm Tower. Go to the right of the Jotnar Shrine, and you will find the Dig Spot.
The Boat Captain’s Key Treasure Map
This next Treasure Map is found to the Northeast of the Lake at Stone Falls. Once you dock at the location, climb on the small stone landing and jump across the gap with the rotating water wheel. Go to the right and climb the chain. Once at the top, go to the left and jump across a small opening where the waterfall is. You will find the map surrounded by a small circle of leaves.
The treasure Dig Spot is found on the Isle of Death to the Southwest of the Lake of Nine. Traverse the island until you find the remnants of a crashed ship, it is here that you will find the treasure.
The Historian Treasure Map
Once the water is at its lowest level, visit the Ruins of the Ancient in the northern part of the Lake of the Nine Realms. Dock and jump over the piece of rubble, and you will find the map here.
Head back to Fafnir’s Storeroom and head back through the forested area. Before going through the stone doors to enter the chamber that you found the Don’t Blink Map, look to the left at the bull statue. This is where you will find the Dig Spot for this treasure.
Finder’s Fee
Travel to the northern part of the Lake and stop at the Forgotten Caverns; just know that you can only access this place after the water has receded for the second time. Dock at the location and run past the Mythic Gateway to find a small chest and the map in front of it.
To find the Treasure’s Dig Spot, once again, make your way to Northri Stronghold. Make your way down the river, pass the gate next to the dock that you stopped at for the Njord’s Oarsmen map and then head to the right when the river splits. You will go beneath a destroyed bridge and find a dock just past it. Go to that bridge and just before jumping across, look to the right and climb the wooden structure. You will find the Dig Spot at the top.
With all of that, you will have found each treasure map and Dig Spot location in God of War!
