There is no doubt that God of War: Ragnarok is the most significant game release left for this year. And any game that launches alongside it will probably find it impossible to compete. This is why some developers initially planning on releasing their games around the year’s end are delaying their games, so they do not have to share their release window with God of War: Ragnarok.
A recent Kinda Funny podcast had Greg and Tim discussing the delay of Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Tim specifically mentioned that some developers had told him that they are actively trying to avoid the November release window due to the monumental popularity of God of War: Ragnarok.

Gettys said that the popularity of God of War: Ragnarok is so high at this point that other developers are afraid of it. He has had business calls where developers told him they are backing off the November window to give God of War: Ragnarok its release month.
He continued, saying that Ragnarok will probably be a force to be reckoned with before and after its release date. Because it is its own category of game, with its own insurmountable levels of hype. And any title with this level of following controls its release window completely. This is why most developers consider the rest of this year a “wash.”
God of War: Ragnarok Release Date
The sequel of 2018’s God of War was initially meant to come out in 2021. But the team decided that was too early and may compromise the quality. So they delayed God Of War: Ragnarok to early 2022. But that, too, did not prove sufficient in terms of time, and the game was pushed further into 2022. The final release date was only recently confirmed to be November 9, 2022. Along with the graphics options in the game being leaked.
