90’s kids have been rejoicing since Good Burger 2 was officially announced and the classic Nickelodeon movie based on the All That sketch has been a fan favorite. With Good Burger‘s revival alongside other Nick properties such as iCarly and Zoey 101, fans have also been hoping for other classic shows and movies to return. From classic shows to underrated movies, here are 10 Nick properties we hope to see return,
10. Kenan & Kel
While they have had several reunions on talk shows and SNL, Good Burger 2 will be the first time Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell have returned in an official capacity. Other than Good Burger, the two are best known for their self-titled sitcom. With the excitement of their new movie in full force, fans would love to see their sitcom characters make a return in some capacity. Perhaps a more adult-orientated reboot akin to iCarly.
9. Fairly OddParents
The Nickelodeon show Fairly OddParents has returned several times after its initial cancelation. Most recently, in a live-action sitcom-style show that split fans. However, the show never received a proper finale. In the eyes of many, the IP has gone stale. However, a proper animated finale would surely put a smile on the face of many. The show introduced characters and stories that took away from Timmy Turner in later seasons, much to the disdain of fans. Seeing Timmy get the ending he deserves is something fans have wanted for years, and it is time he gets it.
8. Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius
The classic animated series Jimmy Neutron remains one of Nick’s best. The movie and show both follow a young boy with a genius IQ and his less-than-genius friends. The property would be perfect for a new show or even a revival film. Fans would love to see Jimmy’s continuing adventures or even a story following the characters later in life. Maybe there could be a feature-length Jimmy Timmy Power Hour that wraps up both this show as well as Fairly OddParents. There are plenty of places a reboot could go, and fans anxiously await an announcement.
7. Nacho Libre
While most think of shows when mentioning Nick, they also have several original movies under their belts. One of the fondest remembered is Nacho Libre with Jack Black. The luchador comedy is quoted constantly by those who grew up with it, and fans would enjoy seeing this Nickelodeon sequel greenlit alongside Good Burger 2. The movie is a cult classic that seems to grow in popularity each year. The film was open and closed, but it would be fitting to see Nacho’s continuing career as a wrestler, maybe even passing the torch onto a younger wrestler.
6. The Wild Thornberrys
The Wild Thornberrys followed a family of wildlife filmmakers and their daughter who can talk to animals. The series was popular in the late 90s and early 2000s. The show also spawned two movies, one of which saw the characters crossover with those from Rugrats. There are many Nickelodeon properties fans would enjoy seeing a return, and Wild Thornberrys is chief among them.
5. CatDog
CatDog is fondly remembered by those who grew up with it and new fans alike. The series follows a cat and dog hybrid and their various misadventures. The show is one of several Nicktoons that are still celebrated to this day. CatDog seemed like a no-brainer for a reboot or some sort, and fans would flock to watch it. While CatDog may not have been the most popular cartoon, there is still a loyal fanbase that would surely celebrate if it were to return. The over-the-top humor and zany animation would fit in perfectly with today’s animated shows. It would also be an excellent way for younger fans to be introduced to this classic Nicktoon.
4. Ren and Stimpy
Thanks to shows such as Family Guy and South Park, adult-themed cartoons are more popular than ever. Ren and Stimpy pushed the envelope of what a children’s show could do and still be considered a kid’s show. A revamped series or even movie featuring these characters would fit in perfectly with today’s comedic climate. While the show did receive a strictly adult renewal in 2003, it didn’t appeal to many fans. The show shares many fans with Kenan and Kel, so those excited about Good Burger 2 will also watch this Nickelodeon reboot.
3. School of Rock
Yet another live-action Nickelodeon movie starring Jack Black is School of Rock. The movie did spawn a stage musical that, in turn, had a Nick show based on it. However, the show is more of a remake than a sequel. Fans would love to see Jack Black reprise his School of Rock role in a new movie. Black’s property only seems to be rising, so a proper sequel would be perfect alongside Good Burger 2. Fans of the film continue to voice their support, so a sequel will surely be a wise investment for Nick.
2. Danny Phantom
One of the most celebrated Nickelodeon properties is Danny Phantom, the adventure series about a boy with ghost powers is a humorous yet engaging show that fans of all ages love. The show seems like a perfect IP for a reboot. Whether a movie or a continuation of the series, there is a lot that can be done with a reboot. Programming for children continues to evolve, with shows such as Adventure Time and Gravity Falls managing to entertain children and adults. A modern update of Danny Phantom could get away with more mature themes but still be enjoyed by children.
1. Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide
Alongside Good Burger 2, another Nickelodeon property fans unanimously want to see return is Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide. The show followed Ned Bigsby and his friends as they try to navigate middle school life. The titular survival guide is filled with tips the characters learn throughout their zanny day-to-day lives. The series was originally supposed to extend into high school but was canceled. For years, those who grew up with the series have been campaigning for an updated version showing the characters navigating adulthood. Even the original actors and creators have stated they are down for a remake. They are just waiting for Nick to give the green light.
