As fans of the Batman prequel series will know, the Gotham Season Four finale showed the titular city in turmoil. Villains were running amok in the city while Jim Gordon shone a spotlight for heroes to come and defend it.
But as he and Bruce didn’t have enough problems to face, they also have a new problem on their hands in Season 5. This comes in the form of the Mutant Gang.
These monstrosities, introduced in Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, were posted on Twitter by a user called Dennis. You can view them below:

Of course, the Gotham versions aren’t as muscular as their comic counterparts, but the overall look leaves little doubt as to their identity.
The fact that the writers and producers included the group this season suggests they are going all out for these last episodes.
Going out on a high note
There are purists who argue that the Mutant Gang are introduced too early in the show. After all, in the graphic novel, Bruce Wayne fights these villains at age 55. Here, he’s obviously a lot younger!
Then again, the show often changes key elements from the comics. The Joker’s origin and Bruce’s training are just a few of the examples. In this series, the majority of Batman’s rogue’s gallery is already active long before Bruce adopted his superhero mantle. It’s best to think of Gotham as an elseworlds story.
Here’s hoping the series will end on a high note regardless. As revealed a little earlier in the year, this season will consist of only ten episodes.
Ben McKenzie’s Jim Gordon will grow the character’s iconic ‘stache as he grows closer to his destiny as Commissioner.
Will the inclusion of the Mutant Gang strengthen the season? Or are the Gotham powers-that-be throwing too much into these final ten episodes? Be sure to sound off your opinion in the comments.
