DC Pride Initiative is happening again this year, and Grant Morrison is contributing a new Multiversity story. That’s right, Morrison is heading back to Multiversity after several years away, this time with artist Hayden Sherman. The story is included in DC Pride 2023 #1, which is a 104-page anthology featuring multiple stories from across the DC Multiverse.
Grant Morrison In Multiversity
Back in 2015, DC’s New 52 relaunch gave birth to the Multiversity. It featured a series of one-shots, each written by Grant Morrison, with a rotating group of featured artists. The story follows different corners of the Multiverse coming together to take on The Gentry and The Empty Hand. These two villains are primordial beings with the mission of rewriting reality using dark magic.
Since its inception, Multiversity spawned two spin-offs, including Multiversity: Teen Justice. This limited series from Danny Lore and Ivan Cohen ran from 2022 to earlier this year. Meanwhile, the other spin-off debuts this week with Multiversity: Harley Screws Up the DCU. It features Harley Quinn causing all kinds of chaos with a time machine.
DC’s Pride
DC Pride 2023 #1 celebrates the LGBTQ+ creators and characters of the DC Universe. Per comicbook.com, this year’s anthology features a story of Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy getting interrupted during some alone time. Meanwhile, Jon Kent is having issues when John Constantine sends a golem after him. Then, Tim Drake and Connor Hawke face some awkward times in reuniting with a friend. Other stories focus on Circuit Breaker, the Flash, and Flashlight and a preview of the upcoming Dreamer YA graphic novel.
Joining Grant Morrison for this anthology is a slew of talented creators. They include Nadia Shammas, Bruka Jones, A.L. Kaplan, Christopher Cantwell, Skylar Patridge, and many more. Plus, the anthology features several pinup pages from some of the best artists in the biz. They include Babs Tarr, Claire Roe, Noah Dao, Maria Llovet, and more.
DC Pride 2023 #1 is out this May.
