Hailey Bieber‘s father, Stephen Baldwin, is sending her a message. The model recently made a rare comment about her extended family that didn’t reflect positively. Now, the patriarch is speaking up, trying to extend an olive branch to his pregnant daughter.
A day after Hailey revealed the sour state of her relationship with her family, Baldwin shared a cryptic post on Instagram. The Usual Suspects actor was seen driving as he stared into the camera. He gave a slight smirk before saying to the camera, “I love you,” as though speaking to someone. In the accompanying caption, the doting father wrote, “Today, staying positive is a choice !! So, I’m trusting in the power of joy, peace, and happiness. Finally, if anyone hasn’t told you today, 😘 I LOVE YOU ❤️🔥.” Baldwin looked a bit somber in the clip that amassed thousands of likes in hours.

Baldwin’s post comes a day after Hailey got candid about her relationship with her family while preparing to welcome a child. The model is more than six months pregnant with her first child, whom she shares with her husband, Justin Bieber. While discussing her childhood with W Magazine, the Rhode Beauty founder admitted she grew up under “fairly normal” conditions. However, things aren’t the same anymore:
“I’m not super close with my family at this point in my life because I feel like I’m very independent. I’m my own individual now, and I’ve built my own family.”
Hailey’s remark about her family brings to mind her father’s role in the divorce rumors that plagued her and Justin before their pregnancy news. Earlier this year, Stephen caused a ruckus when he made a public plea to his fans, asking them to “offer a little prayer” for his daughter and son-in-law. Sources close to the situation claimed Hailey and Justin were unhappy that their dad had discussed a “private” matter on social media.
