343 Industries is currently in the process of porting the entire Master Chief Collection to PC. It started with Halo: Reach, and quickly moved over to Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary. Lately, they’ve been in the process of porting over Halo 2 Anniversary, and it looks like it’s just about time for players to enjoy it. Halo 2 Anniversary releases on Steam and the Windows Store on May 12th, which is one week from now. 343 and Xbox took to their social media to celebrate the release date of the next title in the franchise on PC.
Halo 2 Anniversary brings the Master Chief to his next step in the critically acclaimed saga. The Covenant is looking to invade Earth as revenge for the Halo ring’s destruction, and it’s up to Master Chief and Cortana to help repel the invasion. Alongside this, the Elites are discovering an ancient secret that looks to change their perspective on the Covenant. The game is a key part of Halo’s saga and is fully remastered in the Anniversary edition. There’s heavily improved cutscenes, improved visuals, and remastered audio. This is the prime way to play Halo 2 and brings PC players up to par with the console edition.
Halo 2 Anniversary will be available for $10 standalone but is available with the other Halo games for $49.99. Following Halo 2 Anniversary’s release, 343 Industries is looking to port Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST to PC. There isn’t too much news on that yet, but the team has already released some screenshots of early work. You can find those screenshots and additional info here.
