Halo 2 was an iconic game for the series’ fans. The game is still playable today, and the content is even better with the Anniversary Edition. But the extraordinary thing isn’t one of the expansions of this game. The trailer, which was released in E3 2003, was special. We’re talking about Earthcity, not included in the full release of Halo 2, but developer 343 Industries is finally opening the trailer content.
Gamers loved the gameplay video back in 2003 and expected the demo as playable. It didn’t happen then, but the latest announcement says it’s now happening after nearly two decades.
Halo 2’s E3 Trailer Demo Earthcity to be Playable Soon
After a very long wait, 343 Industries announced the trailer demo of Halo 2 is going to be playable soon. The demo’s visual quality is so poor for 2022 standards, but it was much more impressive in 2003. At least we can see what’s happening in the gameplay, and it will get Halo fans hyped one more time. The demo was named Earthcity, its background was revealed in the past, but it wasn’t playable so far.
The story of Earthcity is a cliché. A human city is getting invaded, and you should protect the city with the army. That also sounds familiar to the stories in the full release of Halo 2. Not surprisingly, the weapons and most other content were included in Halo 2. But the story and the map were excluded from the release. This was a heartbreak for people who loved the E3 gameplay trailer in 2003.
Earthcity will be included in Halo 2’s new update. The game was already remastered in 2020, but 343 Industries is planning an update this time. The release date isn’t clear, but it might take a little longer.
