Although 343 Industries and Microsoft managed to launch the Halo Infinite free-to-play multiplayer early, it comes with caveats: bugs and server issues. One of the most annoying bugs that players still often encounter in Halo Infinite is the “Challenges not tracking” issue.
Doing Daily and Weekly Challenges are the only way to rack up XP to progress and unlock things in the new Battle Pass system. With that in mind, it’s no wonder that people are pretty miffed if their progress isn’t getting recorded because of a bug. Nevertheless, several Halo Infinite players seem to have found seven solutions regarding the challenges not tracking issues that, while maybe not helping every possible setup out there, are still worth a try if you haven’t already.
1. Join a Random Team
Most internet users claimed they managed to get their Challenges tracked again by joining a random team in online play. Although playing with randoms sounds less fun than playing with friends, you should give it a shot. Besides, you just need to do it once to see if it works, anyway.
2. Swap Challenge Using “Challenge Swap” Consumable
Your next best option might be to swap the Challenges that are stuck with another one using the Challenge Swap consumable. As its name suggests, once used Challenge Swap will switch out one currently active Weekly Challenge for a random new one. Here’s how to use the Challenge Swap:
- From the main menu, open the Battle Pass menu.
- Switch to the Challenges tab
- Select the Challenge Swap icon (The icon looks like two rotating arrows) to the left of the Challenge you want to switch out.
- Confirm your choice by selecting Swap.
Unfortunately, as you might expect, any progress on a Challenge is lost if it’s swapped with a new one. And the Challenge Swap consumable costs 200 in-game premium Credits currency, so you might need to fork real-life cash to get one.
3. Manually Check for Game Updates
Released as a standalone online portion of the whole Halo Infinite game, the multiplayer should always be instantly updated. Even so, manually checking if the game has a new update might solve the issue, especially since the game is still fresh from the development oven. Sudden hotfixes, patches, and updates could be released at any moment. Keeping an eye on the official Halo Support Twitter account is the fastest and safest way to learn about any of them.
4. Restart Halo Infinite
This sounds like the most basic tech advice out there. But the simple “plug in, unplug” method works wonders for most tech issues even if people claimed they had already done it before complaining on the internet. So yeah, give it a try, it might surprise you.
5. Restart Your System
Likewise, if simply restarting the game does not do the trick, try restarting your Xbox or PC instead. There might be any obstructive applications or in-game errors running in the background, and restarting your system should refresh the whole thing.
6. Verify Halo Infinite File Integrity
In case you’re on PC and playing it through Steam instead of the Xbox Game Pass app or Microsoft Store, then you can try verifying the integrity of the game files:
- Right-click the game in your Library or click the gear icon on the far right of the Steam window.
- Choose Properties from the menu.
- Pick the Local Files tab and click the Verify integrity option.
- Wait for a few moments then launch the game again once it’s done.
7. Reinstall Halo Infinite
Redownloading 50GB all over again could prove to be a huge hassle for some people. But in case any previous tricks didn’t do the job then the last thing you can do is to uninstall Halo Infinite and reinstall it again. Hopefully, the issue will be gone for good this time.
