In Halo Infinite multiplayer, there’s a Challenge that asks you to beat enemies using a weapon called M247 HMG. You might be wondering where you can grab one since, unlike Halo 4, there is no handheld machine gun-type weapon that spawns in Halo Infinite maps. Well, here’s where you can find the M247 HMG and finally complete the “Jorge Would Be Proud” Weekly Challenge.
Halo Infinite: Where to Find the M247 HMG
Some newer (and even returning) players may not know the “official designation” of the mounted turret, often found on the back of a Warthog or in strategic defensive positions on select maps. Yep, that heavy automatic weapon is called the M247 HMG.
Usually, a destroyed Warthog can drop the turret and let you pick it up. But if you really need one you can hop on the stationary ones and pull off the turret by pressing the right stick/R3 on a gamepad or the melee key on the keyboard. Walking around with the heavy machine gun will slow you down but since Halo 3, there is a unique glitch that lets you walk faster when walking sideways or diagonally with a turret. These are the maps where the M247 HMG can be found:
- High Power (Big Team Battle – on your team’s base, on Warthogs)
- Fragmentation (Big Team Battle – near your team’s starting spawn point, on Warthogs)
- Deadlock (Big Team Battle – near your team’s base, on Warthogs)
- Behemoth (on Warthogs)
- Launch Site (on Warthogs)
Like all other UNSC weapons with Kinetic ammunition, M247 HMG is the most effective against unshielded opponents. Although its fast firing rate can also help shred an enemy’s shield as effective as Plasma or Shock weapons. To complete the “Jorge Would Be Proud” Weekly Challenge in Halo Infinite, all you need to do is kill one enemy Spartan using the M247 HMG. It is named that way because in Halo: Reach, Jorge is the big Spartan that always brings his own heavy machine gun into firefights.
On one hand, a number of players on Reddit wrote that a kill from Warthog’s, stationary, or ripped turret should be registered for the Weekly Challenge. However, on the other hand, some players reported that most of the time using a ripped turret is more reliable since the Challenge is bugged — but 343 Industries have issued a fix per November 18. If you’re having a problem getting ahold of an M247 HMG in public multiplayer modes, reportedly the Challenge works in Bot Bootcamp mode as well.
