Like playing dress-up with your Spartan? Well, you’re in luck since more armor permutation-related content is coming to Halo: The Master Chief Collection. In the currently-running flighting/beta testing for Halo: MCC Season 6, 343 Industries has let beta tester try out a selection of new armor pieces based on ODST design for Halo 3 multiplayer.
However, these ODST armor pieces aren’t part of the armor used by Buck’s fireteam in Halo 3: ODST. Rather, they’re from Fireteam Raven, an arcade-exclusive shoot-em-up spin-off. I was hoping that the game would also come to my home country but alas, with the current pandemic situation, playing at arcades is now near impossible since touching public facilities doesn’t seem like a good idea and lots of them have gone under. Maybe that’s the reason 343 decided to port the Fireteam Raven armor into Halo: MCC; to let us enjoy part of the arcade game in the safety of our homes.
And as you can see above, Fireteam Raven ODST armor isn’t the only new thing coming to Halo: MCC Season 6. 343 is porting another batch of Halo Online armor. And this time, there’s a new customization slot for Halo 3, called “Back Accessory”. It ranges from variations of ODST combat backpacks as seen in the arcade game, to a simple fire ax and two swords and a shield with an Elite skull on it based on the Legendary difficulty icon.
Considering the Katana chest piece has a huge katana on its back, I do wonder if these Back Accessories will clip through it. Or the katana will be moved to the Back Accessory slot and then you can put it on whatever chest pieces you like instead.
Other than a bunch of new armor pieces, Halo: MCC Season 6 will also be adding two additional multiplayer maps:
- Waterfall: UNSC base-themed map. One of many secret bases during the final years of the Covenant War on a far-flung world in the Zezar system. The installation doesn’t just function as a shelter, but also to investigate findings beneath the planet’s icy surface and on its two prominent moons.
- Edge: Forerunner-themed map. Set in the remote frontier world of Partition that’s surrounded by breathtaking vistas and jungles full of exotic flora and fauna. The place might represent a paradigm shift in humanity’s understanding of the Forerunners’ technological legacy.
As usual, read up more about the upcoming Halo: MCC content over on Halo Waypoint. Seeing that 343 can add ODST-related armor into the game, I’m hoping that the team can also port Halo 3: ODST Firefight lines to Reach Firefight. What do wish to see in future seasons?
