Harley Quinn fans can rest easy – voice recording for the DC adult-animated series is underway. The news was announced by the show’s writer/producer Patrick Schumacker on Twitter, writing, “Today we started recording @dcharleyquinn season 3. @bader_diedrich was back as Batman! Jim Rash was back as Riddler! and @Chris_Meloni was back as Commissioner Gordon! We’re back!!!”

Patrick Schumacker then goes on to praise HBO Max, who picked up the show after DC Universe stopped streaming TV shows and turned into an online comics subscription service. “Huge thanks to @hbomax for picking us up. They have been phenomenal partners on this,” he writes.
In a separate tweet replying to a fan, Schumacker also confirms that Ron Funches will return as King Shark, one member of Harley’s villainous entourage in the show. He writes, “Man, that would be super mean if we killed him off between seasons, especially because we have Ron booked to record as King Shark next week”.

However, it turns out that previous plans to explore the origins of Poison Ivy were sidelined during the writing process. Regardless, Schumacker assures fans that Season 3 is an Ivy-heavy season. Patrick Schumacker writes, “That was the plan originally but as we started writing it shifted away from the origins part. Still a HUGE Ivy season.”
This is perhaps appropriate since the last scene of Season 2 has Harley declare her love for Ivy and kiss as they drive off together, cementing them as an official couple in the show. Therefore, there’s a large chance Harley Quinn will further explore their relationship unless something unexpected happens.
