Marvel’s small-screen endeavors may be strong, but they aren’t here to stay. Over the last year or so, Marvel has unleashed a wave of Disney+ series to the fans. This included the Emmy-winning WandaVision, Falcon and Winter Soldier, and Loki. More have come, the most recent being Hawkeye and the certified fresh Moon Knight. And yet, very few have confirmed second seasons. Loki is one of the shows lucky enough to confirm a return. With such an open ending to season 1, it makes sense. However, most are not so lucky. And it seems the most recent of the bunch have joined that camp. Moon Knight and Hawkeye have been confirmed as limited series runs, with no sequels in mind.
Hawkeye Shoots True, But He’s Out of Arrows
Hawkeye was an enjoyable Christmas-themed superhero romp. It introduced Kate Bishop and gave Clint Barton some much-needed depth. All while fighting against a mafia run by Daredevil baddie Kingpin himself. It was a nice follow-up for one of the last OG Avengers. However, like WandaVision, it seems Clint’s time on TV is over. Whether he’s officially retiring or will teach his new protege in earnest in future titles is unclear. The limited series status is unfortunate for Hawkeye fans, but he may be seen in Echo or beyond.
Moon Knight Can’t Quite Tip the Scales
Though incomplete at the moment, Moon Knight has already announced its limited series status. The director did this to make it clear that Marc Spector and his dissociative personalities won’t be back on TV any time soon. The show has been enjoyable so far, pitting the Avatar of Khonshu against forces of evil. The storytelling was a bit slow at first, but it’s picked up. As sad as it is that the series won’t get a sequel, the series director believes it could connect to something even greater. Nothing else has been shared, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed for good news.
