A mere two days after its release, HBO Max has edited and reuploaded Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts. This is due to mistakes that had been noticed immediately upon its release.
IGN reports that the first mistake, which fans noticed immediately and shared on social media, was when a childhood picture of a girl who was thought to be Hermione Granger actress Emma Watson was shown in the special. However, the actress pictured was Emma Roberts of Scream Queens and American Horror Story. The picture had been posted on Roberts’ Instagram years ago. The mistake was addressed in a statement to the wrap, and the adjustment has now been made.
According to E! News, another mistake was pointed out by actor Oliver Phelps who portrayed George Weasley in the Harry Potter series alongside his brother James who played Fred Weasley. Both actors were interviewed together, and shots of them had their names and respective characters displayed. However, Phelps pointed out on his Instagram that the two brothers’ names were mixed up. Referencing the mischievous class-clowns their characters were in the films, Phelps captioned the photo saying, “I guess after all those pranks over the years somebody decided to get their revenge.” This post prompted Matthew Lewis, who portrayed Neville Longbottom, to comment saying, “This is legit hilarious. Dude. Wtf? Haha”
Regardless of these mistakes, Return to Hogwarts has gotten much acclaim for being a magical trip down memory lane. It was a celebration of the acclaimed and beloved Harry Potter film series that has spawned even more attractions and future films, such as the upcoming film Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.Â
