If you’re looking for gritty, first-person shooters that capture the scale and realism of World War II, there are very few games out there. Even fewer of those are of good enough quality or have high enough player counts to be playable. Hell Let Loose is one of those few games, and its been getting consistent updates ever since release. Today, publisher Team17 and developer Black Matter are happy to announce that their latest update is now available. Battle of Carentan introduces not only a new map but also several overhauls to some key areas in the game. You can find the update trailer below.
Battle of Carentan, as the name implies, displays the battle of the same name. The city has strategic significance, being a massive battle following the storming of Normandy on the infamous D-Day. It’s well depicted, offering a lot of close and long-range combat for those who want variety. The teams promise this is the biggest urban landscape introduced into Hell Let Loose yet and should make for a unique experience.
Joining this is three big overhauls to Hell Let Loose. The first two are purely cosmetic, bringing overhauls to the animations and sound design of weapons. Everything should feel more realistic while feeling good in the hands of players. The other comes in overhauls for the Foy and Omaha maps, offering many visual and gameplay changes to make the maps feel better. If you’d like more details on these changes, as well as the new map of Carentan, you can find that on the update’s Steam page.
Overall, this looks to be a very solid update to Hell Let Loose, which is already a solid game. We even gave some early impressions on it, citing its realism and intensity.
