Hellboy will be returning to the silver screen soon enough, with buzz building around Neil Marshall and David Harbour’s upcoming reboot. Fortunately for fans, Dark Horse will be providing them will plenty of entertainment in the meantime, announcing new Hellboy Omnibus editions are on their way.
The upcoming omnibus will feature the entire Hellboy saga created by Mike Mignola, just in time for the movie. Since its inception over 20 years ago, the story of the fictional demon superhero has followed an overarching narrative, laced in with individual short stories set in the world as well.
Due to the schedule in which they released, the stories and side stories, while mostly linear, caused difficulty when it came to its order. Readers may have had to jump from Volume 2 to Volume 5 if they had no interest in the side story. On top of that, it was may also have been necessary to circle back to a previous installment to figure out why an important plot point in a later issue.
The upcoming omnibus will solve this issue, as it will feature the Hellboy sage in complete chronological order. The main story will now be separated into four volumes, Seed of Destruction, Strange Places, The Wild Hunt, and Hellboy in Hell. The two additional volumes are set to cover the complete list of short stories.
Alongside the new formatting, Mike Mignola has created brand new artwork for each volumes cover. While these new volumes will not be available until starting Summer 2018, Mignola will be selling them as prints at Rose City Comic Con in Portland, with all proceeds going toward the Houston Food Bank to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey.
