The hit Netflix series, The Witcher, has been renewed for season four. Despite starring in the first seasons of the series as Geralt of Rivas, Liam Hemsworth will be taking over for the show’s fourth season.
Henry Cavill announced his departure from the show on his official social media. In the post, the actor said the following:
My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.
Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.
The first season of The Witcher on Netflix premiered in December 2019. Based on a collection of short stories, the show has been a hit for Netflix since it started. There is currently no word on when the upcoming season of The Witcher will begin filming.
Liam Hemsworth on The Witcher will make it a different show, but hopefully fans still love it.
Why Is Henry Cavill Leaving ‘The Witcher’ On Netflix
The news that Henry Cavill would depart The Witcher came as a shock to many. However, there are no concrete public reasons why the actor is leaving the show. Instead, we have a couple of guesses. As most fans know, Henry recently reprised his role as Superman in Black Adam. Though only an end-credit scene, this has led many fans to hope for either Man of Steel 2 or that he would play the character in a different movie. However, there are not currently any announced plans for the actor to put on the beloved Superman suit again.
Besides this, Henry could have left The Witcher on Netflix for several reasons. Perhaps the actor was simply tired of playing the character.
