Hidden Deep is a game by Cogwheel Software. It ask the question ‘what happens at the bottom of the ocean?’ And it answers with a horrific look into sub-oceanic cave exploration. Humanity has always considered what may be underwater. But there are also the caves to consider. When we finally develop the tech, there’s no telling what stories the ocean depths will tell.
Hidden Deep Features
Inspired by classics like Alien and The Thing, people are tasked with solving a mystery. But this task is not something to be taken lightly. A group of scientists has already went to explore previously detected anomalies. This time, a group of specialist trackers must locate the science team. Here are some features of the horror-themed title:
- Command a Team – command team members to complete individual tasks. Ensure that each person is right for the job.
- An alien menace – the alien creatures roaming the darkness can be sneaky. And if they don’t get you, the environment will certainly try.
- Special Equipment – traverse large gaps with grappling hooks, scan unexplored tunnels using survey drones, and use heavy machinery to creature new paths
- A nod to the classics – Hidden Deep is a horror title paying tribute to classic sci-fi movies and horror games
There are also two different modes to choose from: Story Mode and Survival mode. In Story Mode, players are graced with over 20 hours of narrative-driven gameplay. And there are at least 50 levels to explore. But that is just the number of levels designed so far. In Survival Mode, players can work through procedurally generated levels. Developers are also looking into the possibility of adding Co-Op gameplay in the future. You can wishlist the game here.
Does this horror-themed title suit your library? Think you can handle the dangers of the deep? Or might the aliens be too much to handle? Let me know in the comments!
